The New AI Chip Race Is About More Than Raw Performance
Compute, packaging, memory and manufacturing capacity are becoming strategic advantages.

AI chips are often compared using a single headline number: how much computing power they can deliver. That is useful, but increasingly incomplete. The real competition is shifting toward entire systems — processors, memory, packaging, networking, software and manufacturing capacity working together.
A chip with excellent theoretical performance can still be limited by memory bandwidth, power consumption, thermal constraints or the ability to connect thousands of accelerators efficiently. For large AI systems, those bottlenecks can matter as much as the processor architecture itself.
